STEPS FOR MAPPING TO A "SHARED " DRIVE: Now that a mapped drive exists on the network, go to each of the other machines which need to run the Punch Clock program and follow the steps below: 1. Open Windows Explorer (Click Start, then Programs, then windows Explorer). 2. click on "TOOLS" on the menu bar (on top), then click "Map Network Drive" 3. In the space labeled "Drive", choose the drive letter you wish to be associated with the drive map. This was "E: in our example. 4. In the space labeled "PATH", type two backslashes, the name of the machine Punch Clock is installed on, another backslash, and the name of the share. If our machine name is "SERVER" and the name of the share is "PCLOCK," then the mapping path would be \\SERVER\PCLOCK (Minus the Quotes). 5. Make sure the little box next to "Reconnect at logon" has a check mark in it. If it doesn't, click the little box to create one. 6. Click on "OK" to created the drive map. That's it! The "Shared" directory will be usable by this machine for reading and writing data. |
